Fishers of Men

“As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him (Matthew 4:18-20).”

Dear Evergreen family, We’re being sent on a fishing expedition! Yes, it’s true that this is a call on our whole life, but there’s a special fishing trip happening, and the boat’s boarding right now! On September 12th, we’re hosting a “Back to Church” Sunday at Evergreen. It’s no secret that the past year and a half has seen us all living under the surface of the water for stretches of time. One by one, though, we at Evergreen have been popping up out of the water. While prioritizing safety and safety measures, we’ve been re-engaging as the Body of Christ. I can’t tell you how many times someone has “popped up out of the water,” entered the worship center for the first time in many months, and declared in so many words, with tear-filled eyes, “I didn’t realize how much I missed being here.” We want to continue to multiply this experience! So, you’ve got a rod, a net, and a tackle box (You can tell I’m not a fisherman. I don’t really know the equipment). Go find an Evergreen friend who’s hanging out underwater and invite him or her to church on September 12th! That day, we’ll have an outdoor fellowship event from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. with individually packaged food. We’ll have a backpack blessing and a bible distribution. We’ll have an expanded Greenhouse schedule. We’ll really enjoy seeing one another. So, if you come to the 9:00 a.m. service, stay after. If you come to the 10:00 a.m. service, come early. Either way…bring a catch of fish with you! May God bless us all. Your Fellow Minister in Christ,

Mark
